Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has instructed security forces to increase their presence in Saii and nearby areas within the Katsina Ala Local Government Area. This move aims to stop further strikes by armed groups and terrorists.
The Governor has mandated a search for those responsible for the recent attack, which resulted in deaths and injuries. He emphasized that the culprits must face legal consequences. Furthermore, Alia directed security teams to prioritize the protection of local farmers so that seasonal agricultural tasks can proceed without interference.
Addressing the public, Governor Alia asked citizens to stay calm and encouraged local watch groups to share information on suspicious behavior with authorities. He labeled the violence a cowardly act that seeks to displace farmers from their land. The Governor offered his sympathies to the families affected by the tragedy and wished the wounded a swift recovery.
According to Tersoo Kula, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, the assault took place on Wednesday morning. It was allegedly executed by individuals posing as herdsmen. The state government maintains that it will continue to prioritize safety and work toward ensuring long-term peace across the region.
