The Allied People’s Movement (APM) warned that re-electing President Bola Tinubu in 2027 would exacerbate poverty, unemployment, and insecurity across Nigeria. National Publicity Secretary Abubakar Yusuf issued this statement on Tuesday, framing the current administration’s record as a failure.
Yusuf argued that the nation is currently enduring severe economic strain and suggested that another term under the President would only deepen the crisis. He characterized the existing governance as a source of infrastructure decay and widespread despondency. Furthermore, the spokesperson alleged that proponents of Tinubu’s re-election are largely motivated by self-interest, noting that many supporters are discredited figures seeking to evade corruption allegations.
The party claimed that the All Progressives Congress is increasingly wary of the APM’s momentum. According to Yusuf, the ruling party feels threatened by the growing appeal of the APM and its presidential candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde, asserting that the APC cannot succeed in a transparent contest. Additionally, the APM criticized the government’s inability to curb terrorism and kidnapping, while expressing alarm over the sharp rise in foreign debt and its long-term impact on the country’s future.
