APP Celebrates Court Ruling Securing Opposition Participation for 2027

The Action Peoples Party has welcomed an appellate court ruling that protects opposition participation in the 2027 elections, calling it a victory for Nigeria’s democratic system.

The Action Peoples Party (APP) in Imo State has lauded a recent Court of Appeal decision that allows opposition parties to participate in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The party characterized the ruling as a significant win for Nigerian democracy.

This judgment overturned a previous order from a Federal High Court that had directed the deregistration of the APP alongside four other political organizations. Steve Nnadi, the State Publicity Secretary, stated on Tuesday that the appellate court’s unanimous verdict represents a victory for the rule of law and the nation’s multi-party system.

The APP leadership praised the justices for their impartiality and for protecting judicial independence. By annulling the prior decision, the court has effectively restored the legal status of the affected parties and bolstered public faith in democratic institutions.

Moving forward, the party has urged its members throughout the 27 Local Government Areas of Imo State to maintain unity and focus. The organization plans to ramp up grassroots mobilization, enhance voter education, and strengthen its internal structure ahead of the 2027 polls. Finally, the APP pledged to offer purposeful leadership and accountability, calling on the citizens of Imo State to continue their support for the party’s mission.
