A high-speed vehicle race involving youths in Owerri, Imo State, has resulted in the death of one pedestrian and left another in critical condition. The incident occurred on Sunday evening at the Imo State University junction, a location frequently used for such dangerous driving activities.
A witness, who requested anonymity, reported that the speeding cars struck two individuals. One victim died at the scene, while the survivor was transported to a medical facility for urgent care. The witness noted that these races have become a frequent occurrence, often encouraged by crowds of bystanders, and expressed frustration over the lack of government intervention to prohibit the practice.
