Tragedy in Owerri: Illegal Street Race Results in Fatality

A fatal car race in Owerri has sparked public outrage after a bystander was killed and another seriously injured at the Imo State University junction.

A witness, who requested anonymity, reported that the speeding cars struck two individuals. One victim died at the scene, while the survivor was transported to a medical facility for urgent care. The witness noted that these races have become a frequent occurrence, often encouraged by crowds of bystanders, and expressed frustration over the lack of government intervention to prohibit the practice.
