FCT Minister Nyesom Wike stated on Monday that the administration will not halt its ongoing infrastructure development in Abuja. He emphasized that the government is committed to finalizing essential projects before the conclusion of President Bola Tinubu’s initial term.
Following site visits to the Apo-Karshi and Bwari-Kubwa road projects, Wike noted that recent project launches are only the beginning. He insisted that several key developments must reach completion before January to honor the government’s pledges to the public. He highlighted the importance of maintaining voter trust by ensuring contractors meet their deadlines, noting that the administration still has time remaining until May 2027.
The Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress on the Apo-Karshi road, a project previously stalled since 2010. He praised the contractor, SCC Nigeria Limited, and the local community for their collaboration. Regarding the Bwari-Kubwa road, Wike instructed the construction firm to adhere strictly to the year-end delivery timeline, promising prompt payment from the FCT Administration to avoid interruptions.
Additionally, Wike addressed concerns regarding illegal street racing on newly built roads. He clarified that such reckless behavior in residential zones is unacceptable and directed traffic authorities to implement measures to guarantee public safety. He noted that the administration plans to continue project inspections throughout the week to uphold its commitment to rapid infrastructure delivery.
