Soldiers from the Joint Task Force North West, operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, recently executed a combined air and ground assault against prominent bandit hideouts in Zamfara State. Security analyst Bakatsine reported the operation on X, noting that the strikes focused on the enclaves of notorious leaders including Najaja, Dogo Gide, Nasanda, and Buba Oris within the Anka and Bukkuyum districts.
The offensive was initiated after intelligence confirmed that hundreds of militants had congregated near the Bayarzaki riverline. The military first neutralized the targets with precision aerial strikes. Following this, ground units positioned themselves along the Gummi–Anka road to intercept escaping gunmen. The forces pursued the militants to the Kombo High Ground, resulting in a heavy firefight that left many terrorists dead.
During the engagement, one soldier suffered injuries, and the military recovered a cache of ammunition during later clearance sweeps. Bakatsine emphasized that this successful mission deals a significant blow to criminal networks in the region, illustrating the military’s dedication to eliminating terrorist safe zones. He praised the troops for their bravery and professional performance during the operation.
