A joint mission involving Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) and the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) resulted in the apprehension of a man suspected of armed robbery and cattle theft in Taraba State. This update was provided via X on Tuesday by security expert Zagazola Makama.
The individual was detained at 5:00 p.m. on June 21 near the Mbiam checkpoint, located within the Takum Local Government Area. Security insiders revealed that the capture was the result of persistent tracking and surveillance by Sector 3 OPWS personnel and intelligence agents who had been observing the suspect for some time.
Prior to his arrest, the man was already a person of interest due to his suspected links to criminal activities in Takum and nearby regions. The military currently holds the suspect as they prepare him for subsequent legal procedures. According to defense officials, this intervention is a component of a broader strategy to mitigate violent crimes, specifically robbery and livestock theft, which have plagued southern Taraba.
