A group within the Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has pledged support for the Rainbow Coalition established by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. This move comes as political preparations heat up for the 2027 general elections.
During a meeting in Isiokpo, the headquarters of the Ikwerre Local Government Area, members confirmed they are acting under the guidance of national chairman Ibe Kachikwu. Samuel Chuku, the Ikwerre LGA party secretary, stated in a widely circulated video that this alignment is set to continue until the Supreme Court resolves ongoing national leadership disagreements.
The faction characterized individuals associated with former Governor Rotimi Amaechi as imposters who are incorrectly claiming party leadership roles. Chuku emphasized that the local chapter intends to pursue its electoral strategy through the Wike-led coalition while waiting for legal clarity on their national party status.
