Elder statesman Ango Abdullahi has asserted that the northern region remains stuck in a dismal state due to the erosion of its traditional values. Speaking at the third annual Gen. Hassan Usman Katsina Memorial Conference at Arewa House, Kaduna, on Saturday, the former Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University argued that the region’s current condition is a direct consequence of abandoning the principles established by its earlier generations.
Abdullahi stated that the region would not be facing its current challenges if it had upheld the standards passed down by pioneer leaders and parents. He dismissed the importance of physical infrastructure, emphasizing that the underlying struggle is ethical rather than structural. He concluded that returning to these foundational beliefs is the only path toward restoring the region’s prosperity and progress.
