President Donald Trump cautioned both China and Russia on Friday regarding the potential supply of weaponry to Iran. Despite the warning, he expressed confidence in recent guarantees from leaders Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin that they are currently refraining from such actions.
Sharing his thoughts on the Truth Social platform, Trump stated that he believes these two nations are not involved in arming Iran. However, he emphasized that if they were to engage in such behavior, the consequences would be severe and contrary to their national interests.
This development follows reports of a US investigation into whether Moscow and Beijing are providing targeting intelligence to Iran after recent attacks on American military installations. Regarding his past interactions, Trump noted that President Xi promised in Beijing last May that China would not supply Iran with arms, a commitment he said he trusts given their current relationship. Similarly, he mentioned that Vladimir Putin provided an equivalent pledge despite the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Trump further clarified his stance on military exports, noting that he supplies weapons to NATO allies rather than directly to Ukraine.
