His agent, Rich Paul, informed ESPN that the agreement is a two-year contract valued at $8 million. James previously secured championships with the Miami Heat in 2013 and 2014, the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, and the Lakers in 2020. He joins a revitalized Philadelphia roster featuring Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and recent acquisition Jaylen Brown.
After posting 20.9 points per game last season, James admitted he seriously contemplated retirement. He noted that he was unsure about his future when the previous season concluded, needing personal reflection to confirm his passion for the sport remained. Despite speculation about potential moves to former teams or joining other stars, James emphasized that his motivation is strictly competitive. He stated that he is chasing the feeling of another title rather than financial gain, marking this as his final career decision.
