Spanish national team winger Lamine Yamal has highlighted three footballers who have caught his attention during the current FIFA World Cup. Ahead of Spain’s upcoming Round of 32 clash with Austria this Thursday, the Barcelona athlete shared his observations.
During a discussion with COPE, the 18-year-old identified Lionel Messi of Argentina, Brazil’s Vinicius Jr, and Morocco’s Ismael Saibari as his top performers. These athletes have each contributed significantly to their national teams, with Messi recording six goals, Vinicius securing four, and Saibari adding three to his name.
Reflecting on their performances, Yamal noted that Vinicius is particularly striking, alongside the obvious inclusion of Messi, while describing Saibari’s technical ability as high quality. Yamal, who has netted one goal for Spain in the tournament so far, aims to increase his personal scoring record when his team faces Austria.
