The Kano State Executive Council has officially banned the youth phenomenon known as ‘Daba,’ labeling it a harmful and intolerable social behavior. During the 40th council meeting led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, officials instructed security forces to heighten their efforts in suppressing these violent activities to protect state residents.
Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, confirmed that the government intends to end the recurring clashes between neighborhood groups. These violent confrontations have frequently plagued areas such as Hotoro, Kofar Mata, and Dorayi, often leading to tragic fatalities.
Beyond security measures, the council sanctioned several healthcare legislative proposals for the Kano State House of Assembly. These bills focus on reforming the Primary Health Care Management Board and upgrading regional schools of hygiene and health technology into comprehensive colleges. Officials believe these updates to the legal framework will significantly enhance medical training and public service delivery throughout the state.
