The Ebonyi State Executive Council has initiated new legislation to oversee house rent pricing, estate agent commissions, and the scrap metal industry. State Information Commissioner Chief Ikeuwah Omebeh announced that a bill is heading to the House of Assembly to restrict agent fees to two percent of annual rent, ensuring only registered professionals can operate. Additionally, the government intends to formalize the trade and transport of scrap metal to prevent theft and protect public safety.
Beyond regulatory measures, the state is launching herbal heritage gardens in its three senatorial zones. This initiative aims to standardize traditional medicine and integrate it into primary healthcare through collaboration with NAFDAC and various research bodies.
Furthermore, the government is terminating stalled 2km road projects across the state. Special committees are now tasked with auditing these sites to ensure progress before the 2026 deadline. Finally, the administration has approved a partnership with Jiangsu Pengfei Group Ltd. to establish a massive 6,000-tonnes-per-day cement plant at the Nkalagu Cement Industry to drive economic expansion.
