General Gbasky Movement Calls for Peaceful Osun Gubernatorial Election

The General Gbasky Movement has urged political parties and stakeholders in Osun State to prioritize non-violent, issue-based campaigns ahead of the upcoming August 15 governorship election.

The General Gbasky Movement is calling on political entities and community leaders in Osun State to prioritize constructive, issue-focused campaigning ahead of the August 15 governorship election. During a summit at the Leisure Spring Hotel in Osogbo titled Mobilising for Unity, Progress and Grassroots Development, the organization emphasized that collective efforts from security forces, religious figures, and traditional rulers are essential to maintaining stability.

Hon. Olufemi Aponbiede, the movement’s convener, urged all participants to look past temporary political contests and focus on the long-term well-being of the state. He warned against the dangers of hatred and violence, advocating instead for mutual respect and community-driven progress. Aponbiede highlighted that real change begins at the local level through improved education, healthcare, infrastructure, and empowerment for women, youth, and farmers.

Concluding the summit, Aponbiede challenged political actors to campaign with dignity and invited all eligible voters to engage in the process peacefully. He reiterated that the General Gbasky Movement remains dedicated to fostering transparency and grassroots development to ensure a stable future for all residents of Osun.
