Saka Ahmed Backs Tinubu for Second Term, Promotes Tunji-Ojo for Ondo Governorship

Saka Ola Ahmed has endorsed President Tinubu for a 2027 re-election bid while urging Interior Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo to seek the Ondo governorship.

Mr. Saka Ola Ahmed, a notable Ondo State native based in Lagos, has publicly endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election. Ahmed believes the President’s current economic policies require continuity to be fully realized.

Addressing the press in Lagos, Ahmed acknowledged that while initial reforms—such as removing fuel subsidies and floating the naira—created temporary hardship, they are now stabilizing the economy. He highlighted that foreign investor confidence is returning and the nation’s foreign reserves are improving. Specifically, he pointed to the Presidential Power Sector Debt Reduction Programme, which has already injected significant liquidity into the power sector through bond issuances, as a primary reason the administration should remain in power.

Beyond national politics, Ahmed is actively encouraging the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to run for Governor of Ondo State once the current administration concludes its tenure. Ahmed argues that Tunji-Ojo, an engineer and former federal lawmaker, is the ideal candidate due to his transformative work within the Ministry of Interior.

Since his appointment in August 2023, Dr. Tunji-Ojo has overseen major improvements within the Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigerian Correctional Service, and the Federal Fire Service. His reforms, particularly the streamlined passport renewal process that allows citizens to receive documents within 24 hours, have earned him national acclaim and multiple professional honors. Ahmed believes this track record of efficiency makes him the best choice to lead Ondo State forward.
