The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has officially clarified that recent reports regarding a recruitment update circulating on social media are entirely fabricated. Abdullahi Maiwada, the spokesperson for the service, issued a statement in Abuja on Thursday refuting the claims.
Maiwada warned citizens to ignore these misleading posts, emphasizing that any legitimate hiring news will only be released via the agency’s verified platforms. He encouraged the public to stay cautious and confirm the validity of any reports before spreading them further.
To ensure authenticity, the NCS listed its official social media handles as Facebook: Nigeria Customs Service, while Instagram, X, Threads, and TikTok are all under the handle @customsng. This warning follows a 2024 recruitment drive that saw 573,523 individuals apply for 3,927 open positions across various cadres. While the service progressed through several stages of the hiring process throughout 2025, no formal appointment letters have been distributed yet.
