Galatasaray Set to Submit £42m Bid for Permanent Signing of Super Eagles Striker Victor Osimhen
Turkish club Galatasaray is reportedly planning to make a £42 million bid for Victor Osimhen in January to secure a permanent deal after his loan from Napoli.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan in September, following speculation about his future at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Since his arrival, the 25-year-old has scored four goals in four starts and provided two assists.
As a result, Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk is eager to sign Osimhen permanently, although financial constraints pose a significant challenge.
Napoli has set a £63 million release clause for Osimhen if a club outside Serie A expresses interest.
However, according to Turkish outlet Sozcu, while Galatasaray may not be able to meet that fee, they still plan to submit a bid for Osimhen when the January transfer window opens.
The report indicates that, with the backing of a sponsor, Galatasaray is prepared to offer a club-record £42 million in an effort to outbid interest from teams like Chelsea and PSG.
If the deal goes through, it would break the club’s record for the highest transfer fee, more than doubling the £15 million they spent on Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Sara from Norwich this summer.
These reports follow Osimhen’s bold declaration just a month ago, in which he asserted his transfer value and mentioned that few players in world football possess his level of quality.
‘I am worth over 100 million euros.’ Osimhen said.
‘There are few players in the world like me, who have reached such style and success. It all relates to my characteristics, what I do, and my quality. Therefore, I believe I deserve it.
‘I am aware of my contribution and what I can achieve, even in my private life. Do people think differently? Some say 15 million, others 100-120-150….. Everyone has their own opinion.’
