Engr. Mohammed Amate, former pioneer Director-General of the Nigerian Mining Cadastre Office, tragically passed away on Monday, June 23, while playing golf at the Zuma Golf Club part of the Zuma Rock Resort near Niger State’s iconic Zuma Rock, just outside Abuja.
Eyewitnesses at the golf course said Amate collapsed on the 17th hole mid-game. Fellow golfers immediately rushed to his aid and attempted to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Originally from Kirawa in Borno State, Amate has since been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic traditions.
