Ozomela Stephen Nwaocha, the OSPAC Zonal Commander for the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni area, was murdered by unidentified attackers in Rivers State. The violent event took place on Tuesday evening on Oba Road in Omoku, resulting in the deaths of Nwaocha and three women who were present at the scene. Two additional individuals suffered gunshot wounds and are currently under medical care.
Witnesses report that the shooting started around 5 p.m. while the commander was spending time outside his home with his sister and her companion. The sudden violence caused widespread alarm among residents, leading many to vacate the area and business operators to lock their premises. Nkem Godknows, the spokesperson for OSPAC, confirmed that the incident was reported to local police. He urged citizens to maintain peace and requested that the Rivers State government improve financial support for the security organization.
The motivation for the attack is currently unknown. ASP Blessing Agabe, representing the Rivers State Police Command, labeled the tragedy a blow to regional security and pledged to track down and prosecute the culprits. Authorities are actively seeking assistance from the public to help resolve the investigation.
