Law enforcement officials in Bauchi State successfully contained a volatile situation in Bogoro Local Government Area following a violent dispute at a local Catholic church. The incident occurred this past Sunday in Jigawa Village Mine after local authorities were alerted to a confrontation between a motorcyclist and church members.
The suspect, 30-year-old Ibrahim Mohammed from Kangere village, was riding his motorcycle when he encountered a security detail managing foot traffic near an active church service. After refusing to follow directions from those on duty, the situation intensified. Mohammed reportedly pulled a machete, wounding three parishioners: 27-year-old Shalom Simon, 35-year-old Tsamani Iliya, and 29-year-old Ibrahim Emmanuel.
Local residents intervened, subduing the attacker and causing him injuries in the process. Police officers arrived shortly thereafter to restore order. The wounded individuals were transported to the State Specialist Hospital in Bogoro, where they are undergoing medical care. Police leadership has pledged to maintain peace and prevent any further retaliation, confirming that the area remains under surveillance and control.
