Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, has clarified that Defence Minister Christopher Musa has no intention of stepping down. Through a statement posted on his official X account, the presidential spokesperson emphasized that Musa remains completely committed to his national security responsibilities. Onanuga noted that the minister is actively steering the country’s military strategy, with tangible improvements already visible.
Previously, General Christopher Gwabin Musa had personally refuted claims regarding his departure from the cabinet, dismissing such reports as unfounded. He explicitly stated that he never discussed any resignation plans with anyone and warned that he would pursue legal consequences against those spreading the misinformation. The minister addressed these rumors while speaking with reporters at the Presidential Villa in Abuja following a security briefing with President Tinubu. Appointed in December 2025 to succeed Mohammed Abubakar, Musa continues to hold his position as the nation’s top defense official.
