The Kebbi State branch of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has increased efforts to clamp down on vehicle overloading and various traffic violations. This initiative is part of a broader mission to enhance road security and decrease the frequency of accidents within the state.
Sector Commander Rukayya Zakaria announced the move during a press conference held in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday. She explained that the campaign, which started on July 20, focuses on dangerous practices such as overloading, mixed loading, traffic route infractions, and the use of worn-out tyres.
The enforcement effort, known as “Daidaita Lodi” and “Lodi Limit,” is being executed across all seven FRSC units in Kebbi simultaneously. To date, officers have impounded 39 vehicles for breaching traffic laws. Commander Zakaria noted that the primary goal is to ensure motorists follow safety protocols, thereby protecting the lives of all people on the road.
To bolster the operation, the FRSC is partnering with the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. This patrol represents a segment of the national strategy dictated by the FRSC headquarters. Zakaria concluded by calling on drivers to adhere strictly to traffic rules, avoid excessive speed, and maintain their vehicles in good condition to keep Kebbi roads safe.
