A maritime disaster in Cameroon has resulted in at least 20 fatalities, 18 of whom were Nigerian citizens heading toward Adamawa State. The vessel, which departed from Garoua, Cameroon, sank late Monday night following a powerful storm.
Reports indicate that over 50 individuals were on board the craft, which was also carrying a significant load of construction supplies, including iron rods, intended for Dasin village in the Fufore Local Government Area. While early accounts suggested a higher death toll, officials have confirmed 20 deaths so far.
Sources state that the 18 Nigerian victims have been interred at the Wuro Bokki community in Fufore. Meanwhile, rescue teams from both nations continue to look for missing passengers. Survivors of the incident are currently being treated at medical facilities situated near the border.
