Ben Stokes made a triumphant return to competitive cricket, overcoming physical distress to score his 10th List A century. Playing for Durham in the One-Day Cup for the first time in nearly 12 years, the all-rounder finished unbeaten on 108 to secure a five-wicket win against Derbyshire.
Stokes struggled with significant cramping throughout his innings, even collapsing at one stage while reaching his half-century. Despite the physical challenge, he steered Durham past the 257-run target. Earlier in the day, Stokes bowled nine overs without taking a wicket as Derbyshire posted 256-9, anchored by a strong century from Martin Andersson.
Although Derbyshire’s Ben Aitchison took two early wickets, partnerships with Will Rhodes, Colin Ackermann, and Ollie Robinson provided the necessary support for Stokes to complete his impressive comeback.
