Military forces under Operation HADIN KAI have detained a suspected foreign fighter, an alleged illegal immigrant, and six individuals accused of supplying logistics to terrorists within Borno State. Captain Mohammed Goni, the acting media officer for the Joint Task Force, announced the development on Monday in Maiduguri.
On July 19, 2026, the 115 Task Force Battalion apprehended Musa Fashir, a 32-year-old Sudanese national, in the Lassa and Dille areas of Askira/Uba. Intelligence reports link Fashir to regional terrorist factions. Additionally, 36-year-old Mary Florence was taken into custody for being an illegal immigrant from Ghana; officials are currently investigating her background and potential criminal associations. Both are undergoing interrogation.
In a separate enforcement action, Sector 1 troops intercepted six suspected logistics suppliers traveling in five vehicles. The soldiers confiscated a significant haul, including 202 cartons of herbicides, 10 bags of rice, six bags of NPK fertilizer, a Starlink system, and various agricultural tools. Authorities noted that specific items like the fertilizer and acid will be subjected to forensic analysis to determine if they were intended for the creation of explosive devices.
The suspects and seized goods have been transferred to the Military Intelligence Regiment for deeper analysis. Captain Goni emphasized that these disruptions are actively crippling insurgent supply chains. He reaffirmed the military’s commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and requested that citizens continue to report suspicious activities to support the regional security effort.
