Chief Joseph Folorunsho Alake, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State, has pressed government leaders to prioritize policies that enhance worker welfare and stimulate job creation. Speaking during his 80th birthday event in Efon-Alaaye, Alake highlighted that systemic economic struggles are the primary driver behind the exodus of skilled youth searching for stability abroad.
The veteran politician noted that inflation and diminished purchasing power have turned survival into a daily battle for most residents. Furthermore, he identified insecurity as a significant barrier to agriculture, which has subsequently inflated food prices and deepened the national crisis. Comparing the present climate to past decades, Alake remarked that graduates today face far fewer opportunities than their predecessors, who often enjoyed institutional support like housing and transportation.
To restore national optimism, Alake urged officials to secure farming corridors, boost civil servant salaries, and foster an environment where local talent can thrive. He emphasized that building a sustainable future requires concrete efforts to address these economic and safety concerns, thereby reducing the necessity for citizens to flee the country.
