Works Minister Umahi supports Wike’s retort to David Mark regarding road criticism

Works Minister Dave Umahi has backed Nyesom Wike’s response to David Mark’s critique of the Tinubu administration’s road infrastructure policies.

Minister of Works Dave Umahi has praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for addressing the comments made by David Mark concerning national road infrastructure. Mark, who is the ADC National Chairman and a former Senate President, had previously questioned whether road construction should be a priority for the Tinubu administration given the prevailing economic difficulties, famously asking if citizens are expected to eat roads.

During the launch of the Akwanga-Jos Super Highway, Umahi supported Wike’s earlier rebuttal, which pointedly reminded Mark of the poor state of the road leading to his own hometown during his long tenure in the Senate. Umahi emphasized that robust road networks are essential for economic growth, describing them as a primary driver of the nation’s GDP. He noted that mobility is fundamental to economic freedom, asserting that communities without adequate connections are effectively isolated. By linking regions like Nasarawa, Ebonyi, and Cross River, the current administration aims to build a foundation for widespread development.
