The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State has officially initiated the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as part of preparations for the 2026 governorship election.
Oluwatoyin Babalola, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for the state, announced that this process is for individuals who recently registered, transferred their polling units, replaced damaged or missing cards, or updated their information during the Continuous Voter Registration.
Distribution starts at the Registration Area level, covering all 332 areas in the state between July 22 and July 28, 2026. These collection points will operate daily, including weekends, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Following this, the exercise will shift to INEC offices in each Local Government Area from July 29 through August 7, 2026, maintaining the same daily schedule.
Babalola emphasized that registered voters must collect their cards in person, explicitly forbidding collection by proxy. She highlighted that the PVC is mandatory for accreditation and voting on election day. Additionally, the commission confirmed that previously uncollected cards from past registration cycles will be available for pickup during this period.
The commission remains dedicated to conducting a transparent and fair election. Citizens needing more information are encouraged to contact their local INEC office or use the commission’s official communication channels.
