Tension is mounting inside the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Edo State as followers of former federal lawmaker Ehiozuwa Johnson Agboneyinma warn they may exit the party. The group claims Agboneyinma is the legitimate winner of the Edo South Senatorial District primary and suspects party elites of manipulating the results.
Andrew Efosa, leader of the Edo South NDC Vanguard, stated that Agboneyinma is the rightful victor. He highlighted the former representative’s previous roles, including his tenure in the House of Representatives and his service at the Code of Conduct Bureau, as evidence of his readiness for the 2027 elections. Efosa cautioned that ignoring these results could damage the party’s prospects in the district.
The Vanguard group claims wide support for Agboneyinma among voters. They have warned that replacing his name on the ballot could lead to a wave of resignations across Edo South. While accusing unnamed party insiders of interference, Efosa urged supporters to stay composed while the leadership handles the grievance through official channels.
