Presidency Suggests Potential Terrorist Sympathizers Within Nigerian Security Agencies

A presidential aide has indicated that terrorist agents may exist within the Nigerian military and police force, citing previous arrests of security personnel linked to extremism.

Daniel Bwala, serving as the Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Bola Tinubu, has suggested that individuals associated with terrorist groups might be embedded within the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force. During an appearance on The Link Up Podcast hosted by EchoRoom, Bwala addressed inquiries regarding possible infiltration within the nation’s security architecture.

He emphasized that the presence of such infiltrators is a possibility, referencing past instances where both police officers and soldiers have been apprehended for their alleged ties to terrorist activities. Bwala noted that such security breaches are not exclusive to Nigeria, comparing the situation to the historical security leaks involving Edward Snowden in the United States. He concluded by stating that the government is implementing classified countermeasures to address these vulnerabilities without compromising ongoing operations.
