TCN Schedules Power Outages for Specific Abuja Districts

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has scheduled maintenance at the Kubwa substation, causing power outages in various Abuja neighborhoods on July 18, 2026.

On Saturday, July 18, 2026, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) declared a scheduled power disruption across several regions in Abuja. TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah confirmed that the outage is necessary to facilitate maintenance work at the Kubwa 132/33kV transmission substation.

Crews will perform annual preventive service on a 100MVA 132/33kV transformer and related switchgear between 10 am and 4 pm. Due to this technical activity, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) cannot provide power to residents in areas including Ushafa, Jigo, Peyi, Pambara, Kogo, Veritas University, Bwari Dutse, Army Estate, Berger Camp, FHA, FCDA, Karatana Village, Aso Garden, Papas Ground, and surrounding locations.

This interruption follows a separate announcement from the AEDC regarding power service suspensions affecting the Presidential Villa, the Supreme Court, and the National Assembly annex throughout the weekend.
