BBNaija Director Gbenga Kayode Denies Claims of Youth Distraction

Big Brother Naija director Gbenga Kayode clarifies that the reality show is apolitical and was never intended to distract Nigerian youth from national events.

Gbenga Kayode, the prominent director of the Big Brother Naija reality program, has rejected claims that the series serves as a distraction for Nigerian youth. Critics have frequently suggested that the show is intentionally scheduled to divert public attention, particularly during election cycles.

Addressing these accusations on the CreativiTea podcast, Kayode clarified that the production remains entirely apolitical. He explained that the core premise of the show is simply to observe human behavior in a controlled environment. The team does not curate the experience to influence political perceptions or steer viewers away from societal issues.

Furthermore, Kayode dismissed accusations that the show encourages a lack of education or intellectualism. He pointed to the fact that every previous winner of the program has been a university graduate.
