Governor Uba Sani Issues Payments to Residents Impacted by Road Works

Governor Uba Sani has provided compensation to residents affected by various road and infrastructure projects across Kaduna State to ensure fair treatment before construction begins.

Within a two-week span, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has issued compensation payments to three distinct communities impacted by ongoing public infrastructure initiatives. During a ceremony held in the Sabon Gari local government area on Friday, the Governor emphasized that his administration prioritizes citizen welfare during project implementation. Representing the Governor, Secretary to the State Government Dr. AbdulKadir Muázu Meyere distributed funds to individuals affected by the Hunkuyi-Unguwan Rimi-Basawa road project, which spans the Kudan and Sabon Gari regions.

This follows significant payments made on July 2, when over N2 billion was disbursed to 1,000 residents displaced by flood and erosion control efforts in the Rigasa to Tudun Wada corridor. On that same day, the government also provided compensation to households along the 15km Ring Road construction route from Danbushiya Junction to Danhonou 2.

Governor Sani highlighted that his administration operates under a philosophy of inclusive, people-oriented development. He described the Hunkuyi–Unguwan Rimi–Basawa road as a vital link that will enhance trade, agricultural distribution, and public service access. The Governor stated that while public infrastructure is essential, it must not cause undue hardship to citizens. To ensure this, the state conducted a thorough assessment of impacted properties to provide equitable and prompt payment before construction began. Dr. Abdullahi Baba Ahmad, Managing Director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency, praised the initiative as a reflection of the government’s commitment to transparency, due process, and the protection of property rights.
