Atiku Abubakar’s Aide Criticizes Federal Handling of Mary Habila’s Death

Atiku Abubakar’s media aide, Paul Ibe, alleges government negligence regarding the death of Mary Habila at the home of Minister David Umahi.

Paul Ibe, an advisor to 2027 presidential hopeful Atiku Abubakar, has accused the Nigerian administration of failing in its duties regarding the death of Mary Habila at the home of Works Minister David Umahi. Through his social media account, Ibe emphasized that national law mandates that sudden or unusual fatalities must be treated as crimes against the state.

Ibe argued that the Nigeria Police Force should have initiated a formal criminal inquiry and a coroner’s inquest to determine the medical circumstances of the death. He noted that such actions are state responsibilities and do not require family consent to proceed. He questioned whether any forensic evidence was gathered or autopsies performed at the Uburu residence, expressing doubt that the cause of death could be established without an official state post-mortem examination.
