The federal government recently designated the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway in honor of President Bola Tinubu, adding to a rising trend of public infrastructure bearing his name since his inauguration in May 2023. Works Minister Dave Umahi explained that the 750-kilometer project was originally envisioned by Tinubu during his governorship in Lagos roughly three decades ago.
This initiative follows several other renamings. In March 2024, Niger State Governor Umar Bago updated the title of the Minna international airport, previously named for Abubakar Imam, to honor President Tinubu. Shortly after, in May 2024, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike designated the Abuja Southern Parkway as Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way. Concurrently, the National Assembly named its newly finished library after the president.
Later that year, in December 2024, the Nigeria Immigration Service unveiled the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex, a hub designed to improve border and security operations. By early 2025, the government sanctioned the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polytechnic in Gwarinpa. The Nigerian Army also dedicated an Asokoro barracks to the president in January 2025, followed by the rebranding of the Abuja International Conference Centre to the Tinubu International Conference Centre in June 2025.
