Alleged Bandit Apprehended by Soldiers in Katsina

Troops in Katsina State have arrested Lawal Sani, an alleged bandit, after finding incriminating video evidence on his phone during a routine patrol.

Soldiers from the 17 Brigade apprehended a man suspected of banditry while conducting patrol duties in the Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State. The detainee, Lawal Sani, was caught by troops returning from an assignment in Bakori as they stopped in the Yantumaki region around 3:14 p.m. on July 15.

According to security reports provided to analyst Zagazola Malama, military personnel inspected the suspect’s mobile device and discovered video evidence of Sani holding an AK-47 assault rifle. When confronted, the man tried to escape but was promptly restrained by the soldiers.

Authorities seized several items during the arrest, including two mobile phones—an Infinix and a Tecno—a motorcycle, a printed copy of a national identity card, a Moniepoint debit card, an MTN SIM card, and 5,020 naira in cash. Sani remains in military custody for further questioning and processing before potential legal action.
