Nine kidnap victims from Zamfara State were rescued by the 17 Brigade in Katsina State after escaping their captors while the terrorists slept.

Soldiers from the 17 Brigade successfully recovered nine individuals who managed to flee their kidnappers in the Faskari area of Katsina State after the militants fell asleep. The incident was documented by Zagazola Makama, a security expert specializing in counter-insurgency.

On July 15 at approximately 8:30 am, troops on foot patrol in the Anguwan Doka region found the group. The rescued party included four men, three women, and two children. During initial questioning, the victims explained they had been taken by armed groups while traveling on the Tsafe–Kuchere Road in Zamfara State.

The survivors stated they waited for a lapse in security when the guards became unconscious and then trekked away from the site until they were spotted by the military patrol. All nine individuals are from Kuchere village. The military is currently providing protective care for them while they await reunification with their families.
