Faruk Mustapha Selected as Running Mate for Bauchi APC Gubernatorial Candidate Abubakar

Former Commissioner Faruk Mustapha has been unveiled as the running mate for Bauchi APC governorship candidate Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar for the 2027 election.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State has officially named Hon. Faruk Mustapha as the deputy to its 2027 governorship candidate, Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar. This decision follows a period of intense public speculation regarding the party’s choice for the position.

Mustapha, a former Commissioner for Special Duties and Rural Development, expressed his acceptance of the nomination during an interview. He characterized the appointment as a duty to the public, stating that he could not decline such an invitation to serve the state. He emphasized that the trust bestowed upon him by the electorate and the party would drive his efforts to foster development in Bauchi.

Having recently departed from the Allied People’s Movement (APM), Mustapha noted that his alignment with Abubakar is rooted in the former governor’s extensive experience in state administration. He argued that Abubakar’s previous term makes him uniquely qualified to reclaim leadership and build upon his past achievements. Notably, Mustapha previously managed the 2023 re-election campaign for Governor Bala Mohammed. He stated his firm belief that the APC will emerge victorious in the upcoming 2027 elections. The party’s State Organising Secretary, Sallau Kafi, verified that Mustapha’s credentials have been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
