Sani Shinkafi Requests Probe into Alleged N1.7 Trillion Misappropriation Claims Against Senator Yari

Former gubernatorial candidate Sani Shinkafi has petitioned Nigerian security agencies to investigate China-based influencer Danbello for allegedly defaming Senator Abdul’aziz Yari with false claims regarding a N1.7 trillion diversion.

Sani Shinkafi, a former Zamfara State gubernatorial candidate, has officially petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, requesting an investigation into Bello Galadanchi—a China-based social media influencer known as Danbello. The complaint, which was also directed to the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Interpol, and the National Cybercrime Centre, addresses claims of cyberstalking, harassment, and defamation.

The petition was filed on behalf of Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, Abdulkarim Tsafe, and Ajap Financial Services Limited. Shinkafi contends that Danbello circulated a politically motivated video falsely accusing Senator Yari of siphoning N1.7 trillion from the federation account through the aforementioned financial firm and Tsafe. According to the document, these assertions are entirely baseless and were intended to damage the reputations of the accused.

Shinkafi argues that the viral content constitutes a breach of the Cybercrime Prohibition and Prevention Act of 2015. The filing emphasizes that while freedom of expression is a protected right, it does not permit the malicious spread of falsehoods. The petitioner has provided law enforcement with video evidence and screenshots, urging authorities to prosecute the influencer to prevent further electoral-season cyberbullying and to uphold public standards of integrity.
