The Niger State House of Assembly has officially denied rumors suggesting it has halted operations indefinitely. Legislative leadership labeled these claims, which recently appeared on social media and digital broadcast outlets, as entirely inaccurate.
During a session on Tuesday, Speaker Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin Daji stated that the Assembly is continuing its standard legislative duties, including oversight functions and policy development. He explicitly addressed allegations regarding friction between the legislative and executive branches, characterizing the relationship as professional and based on mutual respect.
Sarkin Daji explained that while disagreements can happen in governance, established democratic processes exist to handle them. He advised media outlets to confirm news through official channels to prevent the spread of misinformation that could damage public confidence in state institutions. The Speaker further emphasized the body’s ongoing dedication to serving the people of Niger State through transparent governance.
