Kwara State Police Apprehend Two Togolese Citizens for Attempted Kidnapping

Kwara State police have arrested two Togolese nationals, Yakubu Ismaila and Hadiza Kosia, for allegedly threatening to kidnap a local resident unless a 22 million Naira ransom was paid.

Law enforcement officers in Kwara State have taken two Togolese citizens, Yakubu Ismaila and Hadiza Kosia, into custody following a failed kidnapping and extortion attempt in the Baruten region. The authorities successfully intercepted the plot and seized a mobile device utilized to facilitate the crime.

The incident began when S. Ismaila from Okuta notified the Okuta Police Division about persistent threatening calls. The caller demanded 22 million Naira to prevent his own abduction and threatened to harm his younger brother, Musa Ismaila, if the payment was not made.

Acting on this report, police teams utilized advanced intelligence methods and technical support to locate the suspects. Both individuals admitted to the scheme during questioning. Police spokesperson SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi confirmed that the recovered phone serves as key evidence.

Commissioner of Police Ojo Adekimi praised the team for their rapid intervention. He emphasized that the command is working to track down other potential members of this criminal group. The police are urging citizens to maintain vigilance and report suspicious activities to help preserve regional safety.
