Conor Benn to Challenge WBC Champion Ryan Garcia in Las Vegas on September 12

Conor Benn is scheduled to face WBC welterweight champion Ryan Garcia in Las Vegas on September 12, marking a major title opportunity for the British fighter under the Zuffa Boxing banner.

British boxer Conor Benn is set to challenge WBC welterweight titleholder Ryan Garcia at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas this September 12. Despite not having competed in the welterweight division since February 2024, the 29-year-old Benn was named the WBC’s primary challenger last December.

This event marks Benn’s inaugural world title opportunity, while it serves as the first title defense for Garcia, who captured the belt by defeating Mario Barrios earlier this year. The matchup is organized by Zuffa Boxing, a promotion supported by Dana White and Saudi investment. White expressed high expectations for the bout, citing the intense rivalry the two have built online.

The fight is scheduled for the weekend surrounding Mexican Independence Day, highlighting Garcia’s Mexican heritage. Garcia, 27, holds a record of 25 wins across 28 professional appearances. His career history includes a year-long suspension following a failed drug test between 2024 and 2025. Similarly, Benn has experienced a one-year layoff connected to doping allegations and has only one loss in 26 bouts.

Benn recently transitioned to Zuffa Boxing after concluding his relationship with Matchroom. His recent fighting history includes matches at middleweight and a catchweight victory over Regis Prograis. Although there was public confusion regarding the scheduling of this fight earlier in the year, the contest is now officially set.
