Labour Party refutes claims of missing INEC 2027 candidate nomination deadline

The Labour Party has dismissed reports claiming they failed to meet the INEC deadline for submitting presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2027 elections.

The Labour Party has formally refuted allegations suggesting it missed the deadline for submitting its presidential and vice-presidential nominees to the Independent National Electoral Commission for the 2027 election cycle. Speaking from Abuja, National Publicity Secretary Ken Asogwa stated that the party successfully processed all required documentation on July 10, 2026, which precedes the July 14 cutoff established by the commission.

Asogwa characterized the circulating reports as inaccurate and misleading, emphasizing that the party had also fulfilled its obligations regarding National Assembly candidates within the designated timeframe. The party criticized these reports for relying on unnamed sources rather than verifying facts with official party representatives. The Labour Party maintains that once the Independent National Electoral Commission releases its official candidate list, the validity of their submissions will be verified. Leadership urged supporters to ignore these claims and encouraged fellow political entities to prioritize election preparedness over the spread of false information.
