Prince Adewole Adebayo, the former presidential candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), recently stated that he expects President Bola Tinubu to be the final leader to bring shame upon Nigeria. His comments follow a visit by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria to the State House on July 28.
During this meeting, a dispute arose involving President Tinubu and Archbishop Emeritus John Cardinal Onaiyekan. Onaiyekan noted that the President dismissed the bishops’ worries regarding the ongoing economic crisis affecting the country. In response, Adebayo argued that the clergy should have organized an immediate national prayer session instead of leaving the meeting calmly.
Adebayo suggested that the President’s conduct during the discussion was irresponsible given the gravity of the issues raised. He questioned why the bishops did not address the President’s demeanor more directly, suggesting the situation requires significant spiritual intervention. He concluded by reiterating his desire for a future where Nigeria is led by a more suitable head of state.
