Abati Dismisses Link Between Oyo Abductions and Makinde’s Political Goals

Arise TV anchor Reuben Abati disputes Governor Seyi Makinde’s claim that the recent kidnapping of students and teachers in Oyo State is linked to his 2027 presidential ambitions.

Reuben Abati, a presenter on Arise Television’s Morning Show, has argued that Governor Seyi Makinde’s political aspirations are unrelated to the ongoing security issues in Oyo State. This statement followed claims that the governor disregarded the suffering of educators and students recently freed from kidnappers.

Governor Makinde previously suggested a link between his 2027 presidential bid and the kidnapping of individuals in the Oriire Local Government Area, noting the incident occurred shortly after his announcement. Abati criticized this perspective, labeling the connection as unreasonable and potentially delusional.

During the broadcast, Abati emphasized that Makinde’s presidential ambitions do not threaten the administration of President Bola Tinubu. He urged the governor to communicate more clearly, noting that implying the APC or the President orchestrated these crimes to derail his campaign lacks logic and clarity.
