The Abia State Police Command reported a series of successful anti-crime operations targeting local criminal hideouts. According to DSP Maureen Chinaka, the force apprehended 31 individuals and seized various illegal narcotics during these tactical raids.
Operations centered on the Mission Hill, New Road, and Amuzukwu districts. Officers neutralized eight makeshift camps that were reportedly being used for illicit drug operations and criminal activities. Among those taken into custody was one woman, with the remaining 30 suspects being male.
Following an intelligence-led follow-up operation on July 1, 2026, authorities identified additional huts serving as distribution points for prohibited substances. All 31 suspects have since been processed, charged in court, and remanded to prison.
Commissioner of Police Danladi Isa emphasized that these actions align with his directive to purge the state of criminal activity. He remains dedicated to upholding the rule of law and maintaining public safety through consistent police presence.
