Police Apprehend Trio for Armed Robbery with Toy Guns in Ibadan

Oyo State Police Command has taken three suspected armed robbers into custody following a successful stop-and-search operation.

On April 6, officers from the Bodija Market Division intercepted a motorcycle on Awolowo Road carrying three individuals: 26-year-old Godwin Cletus, 17-year-old Adedokun Isah, and 19-year-old Rafiu Usman.

During the inspection, police discovered a toy pistol hidden inside a black bag, along with six mobile phones. The suspicious nature of these items led to the suspects’ immediate detention.

DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed that the suspects admitted during questioning to using the imitation firearm to rob and dispossess citizens of their belongings.

The investigation is currently ongoing as police use the suspects’ confessions to track further leads.

‘’Consequently, the suspects have been taken into custody, while a comprehensive investigation has commenced to determine the full extent of their criminal operations and to identify other possible accomplices within their network” he said
