Soldiers from Operation Enduring Peace successfully freed seven individuals who were kidnapped while traveling on the Riyom highway in Plateau State. The rescue occurred late Monday night following a distress call received around 9:30 p.m. near Sopp village.
Upon arriving at the scene, Sector 6 troops discovered an empty blue Opel Vectra parked on the road. This discovery triggered a search mission in the nearby wilderness. When the military engaged the abductors, the suspects were forced to retreat into the forest, leaving the victims behind.
The rescued group included ASP Babagida Ishaku, Auwulu Haruna, Dung Jerry Dang, Anas Idris, Hussaini Mohammed, Idris Abdullahi, and Kangyang Sunday. They reported that they were heading to Jos from Akwanga, Nasarawa State, when armed men stopped their vehicle. All seven survivors were recovered without injury. Military authorities are now actively searching for the escaped attackers while maintaining regular patrols throughout the region to ensure the safety of citizens and infrastructure.
