Soldiers from Sector 2 of Operation HADIN KAI worked alongside the Yobe State Hunters Group to capture five individuals suspected of kidnapping. The tactical mission took place on July 23, 2026, within Jegalari Village, situated in the Fune Local Government Area of Yobe.
Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force North East, confirmed the arrests on Friday. Troops from the 233 Battalion, based in the Damaturu Military Cantonment, carried out the operation after receiving reliable reports regarding the suspects’ criminal behavior.
The raid resulted in the seizure of three homemade AK-47 rifles, a single locally produced pistol, various rounds of ammunition, and four cellular devices connected to the alleged crimes. The detainees are being held in military custody while officials conduct a formal investigation into their activities.
Captain Goni emphasized that the military remains focused on neutralising criminal threats throughout the North East. He encouraged citizens to stay alert and notify security forces immediately if they witness suspicious behavior, noting that public cooperation is vital for regional safety.
